Being a member of the band is a great way to get started in high school.
The band meets periodically during the summer to learn the music and halftime show.
A schedule of summer activities can be found here.
If you have questions, please contact the band room at (251) 221-3351 extension 71519, or send an email to Mr. Ivey at [email protected].
All freshman band students will have three days of orientation (called “Rookie Camp”) where we will teach them everything they need to know before summer rehearsals begin. This way, they will feel comfortable and on a more equal footing when the “older” band members arrive for practice.
ROOKIE CAMP IS TUESDAY, JUNE 1, THROUGH THURSDAY, JUNE 3, FROM 8AM - NOON IN THE THS BAND ROOM. ATTENDANCE AT THESE THREE SESSIONS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
We will have a meeting/orientation session for parents of new members on Tuesday, June 1, at 6:30pm in the THS Band room.
When school begins, the band freshmen already will know many Theodore High School students with similar interests from all grade levels!
Students who play wind instruments (brass/woodwind) do not have to audition to be a part of the marching band. Percussion and flag corps have an audition process to assign spots within those sections.
AN ADDED BONUS: Many of our graduating seniors in band go on to participate in college band programs and receive scholarships and financial “service awards” for their participation. Isn’t it good to know that your investment in instruments and lessons can pay off (with considerable interest) in the long run?
If you are interested in reserving your spot in the THS Marching Band, please complete the Google Form link here:
