The purpose of the band council is to stimulate and maintain an interest in band functions and projects throughout the year.
The membership of the band council shall consist of elected officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Historian). There are also appointed members: Drum Major, Guard Captain, Field Captain(s) and Drumline Captain. Elections are normally held at the end of the spring term.

Duties of the officers
- The President shall preside at all meetings of the band council, appoint head of committees, call meetings when necessary, serve as the student representative of the band and perform other duties as directed. The President must also be a senior.
- The Vice-President should be a junior or senior, and shall serve in the absence of the President, head committees, and serve in any other capacity as needed.
- The Secretary may be a sophomore, junior, or senior, and shall handle all official band correspondence and give notice of meetings.
- The Treasurer shall keep a record of the expenditures and receipts of the council.
- The Historian shall photograph events of the band members and keep a written record of activities throughout the year including a scrapbook.
