2021 Drum Major Audition Video Requirements

**START YOUR AUDITION BY GIVING YOUR “ATTENTION” VOCAL COMMAND, THEN PROCEED TO YOUR SALUTE** (As if it were an actual field performance)
Salute: Present your drum major salute.
Conducting Patterns: As we have done in the past, demonstrate your ability to conduct in “one,” “two,” “three,” and “four.” Think of it like the time signatures 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4. You will conduct FOUR MEASURES for each pattern, seamlessly moving into the next. It should be ‘mentally’ counted as such: “1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, (1).” You should end with a final downbeat (“one”) after the last measure. There should be no vocalizing for this demonstration.

You are permitted and encouraged to be creative in this demonstration by utilizing common conducting gestures (cues for changes in music, cut-offs for releases, crescendos and diminuendos, etc). Be sure to practice these gestures while still maintaining a good sense of time.
